• Start of Term: We welcome all students back in school on Monday 2nd November 2026. This half term starts with a ‘Week 1’ timetable, so school will finish at the standard 3.15pm finish time.

• A Fresh Start After Half Term: The start of a new half term is an ideal opportunity to establish positive routines. Preparing school bags the night before, setting a consistent bedtime and arriving at school on time can make a significant difference. Even if attendance has been challenging previously, every new school day is an opportunity to make progress. Let's make this half term count!

• Equipment: All students should ensure they attend school with the following items and regular equipment checks will be completed.

- Highlighters (desirable)
- Protractor, pair of compasses (desirable)

• Year 7 Bowling Rewards Trip – Wednesday 11th November: A reminder that all payments and reply to slips for the Year 7 Bowling Trip must be returned by Monday 2nd November at 9:00am, when bookings will close. Students attending may bring their own clothes to change into after school and will be permitted to unlock their phones for the trip. Parents/carers must collect their child from school at approximately 6:30pm.

• Year 7 – Homework and Routines: As we begin our second half term, Year 7 students should now be settled into their school routines and expectations. We would like to remind parents/carers of the importance of completing homework regularly and on time. If your child is struggling with homework, please inform their form tutor. Homework Club is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Hub for any students requiring additional support.

• Homework Club: Please be aware that there will be no Homework Club on Tuesday 17th November, Wednesday 18th November and Thursday 19th November due to the Year 11 PPE exams. It will reopen as usual from Tuesday 24th November.

• Years 7-11 Flu Vaccination: The School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) will soon be visiting our school to offer the seasonal flu vaccination to eligible students. The flu vaccine helps protect children from becoming unwell with flu and can also reduce the spread of infection to family members, friends, and the wider community. The online consent form will come direct from Intra-Health, if you require any support or have questions about the vaccination programme, please contact the School Age Immunisation Service. • Year 7-9 Science Homework: As well as Educake, students also have their key terms homework due on Wednesday. This needs to be checked and signed by an adult to confirm that they have been tested. • Year 9 Video Parents’ Evenings: A-Side on Thursday 19th November and B-Side on Thursday 26th November. Invites with login codes were emailed on Wednesday 21st October, please check your junk/spam folders for Carol Maudsley. If you have not received this, please contact Mrs Maudsley at school.

• Year 10 GCSE Information Evening: This event takes place on Thursday 5th November. 4.30pm start, with registration from 4.15pm. This event is for parents only.

• Year 10: Reports were issued to students in registration on Friday morning (23.10.26). This will not be available on the school app, only via the paper copy that we send home with the students. • GCSE French: Parents of Year 10 students studying GCSE French, plus Year 9 students should be receiving a letter regarding a proposed visit to Paris planned for July 2027.

• All Parents: Please note, with the recent changes to the school app, we are no longer able to send student report to parents directly as a digital copy. We are working to reinstate this facility, but until further notes reports will only be available as the paper copy, we send home with your son/ daughter. We will send you a message on the day reports are sent home so you know to expect the report coming home.

• Christmas Charity 2026: The festive season is on its way again! This year, once again, we at CHS are supporting two Christmas charities and one community event, and we would be really grateful if you could make a contribution to one or more of them.

- Firstly, we are supporting The Christmas Toy Appeal, which helps families who are struggling this year. Donations of toys, books, gift vouchers, sweets or toiletries (suitable for children aged 0-16) can be made directly to school (drop them off at reception or Mr Dugdale’s office, K117). Items must be brand new and in original packaging please.
- Secondly, we are supporting the St Joseph’s Family Centre Christmas Appeal, which helps families facing significant financial hardship by providing supermarket vouchers and hampers over the festive period. You can donate via ParentPay by clicking here.
- Thirdly, we will be running our own annual CHS Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party. It’s always a great pleasure to host the wisest in our community for Christmas dinner, live entertainment from the musical theatre group and bingo … but we desperately need funding. You can bring Christmas cheer and a warm glow to the darkest of months by making a donation by ParentPay (click here to donate via ParentPay) or by donating gifts that we can use for bingo prizes (toiletries, chocolates, gift packs … sherry!). Any donated gifts should go to main reception or can be dropped off at Mr Dugdale’s office, K117.

• PE Notices:
Tuesday 3rd November
- Year 8 Girls’ Football Fixture – selected players must bring their full PE kit, football boots, shin pads and a water bottle. Students will get changed at lunchtime.
- Girls’ Football Club is open to all year groups every Tuesday, 3:15pm–4:15pm. All students are welcome and should bring their PE kit to change into after school.
- Year 8 Cheshire Cup football fixture at Culcheth High School. Kick off at 3.30pm on the 3G pitch.

Wednesday 4th November
- Please note there will be no Trampoline Club on Wednesday 4th November.

Thursday 5th November
- Year 11 PE revision session 3.15-4.15pm – the last one before the PPE exams.
