• Monday Week 2: Monday 21st September is a Monday Week 2 and therefore school will finish at 2.15pm whilst our staff undertake training and development. School buses will depart at 2.25pm.

• QMA Handbooks: Note to all parents that all QMA handbooks listing exam dates and revision lists are all available on the school website. These will also be emailed to parents next week, with further guidance and explanation for new Year 7 families.

• Attendance: Reporting a student absence – please call the attendance line (and leave a voicemail) or use the MyEd app to send a text message. Please report students absent daily before 8.30am.
Lates - Registers must close no longer than 30 minutes after opening. If a student is absent for registration but arrives later in the session after the register has closed, the attendance register must be amended to record them as absent using code U or another absence code that is more appropriate. *Please note CHS AM registers open at 8.40am and close at 9am*.

• Free School Meals: From the start of academic year 2026-27, your child will qualify for free school meals if you get Universal Credit, regardless of household income. If you feel your child should be in receipt of FSM and currently isn’t receiving them, please complete the application form on your council’s website to check your eligibility. If you have any further questions, please contact the PP Team and we will be happy to assist further.

• School Communications: Ensure You Don't Miss Important School Emails - to make sure you receive all our regular updates and announcements, please check that your email account isn't accidentally filtering out our messages.
- Our Email Address: All automated school emails are sent from an address ending in @schools.ps-connect.cloud.
- Check Spam and Junk Folders: If you think you are missing communications, please check your spam or junk folder first. If you find a school email there, select "Mark as Safe" or "Not Spam".
- Add Us to Your Safe Senders List: Adding @schools.ps-connect.cloud to your email address book or "Safe Senders" list will guarantee messages land straight in your inbox.
- Still Having Trouble? If you have completed these steps and are still not receiving updates, you will need to contact your email provider directly (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, BT) and ask them to unblock emails from our sending address.

• School Procedures: We kindly ask for your support in helping students remember all their equipment and try not to drop off at reception. Here are a few key points to keep in mind:
- Forgotten Equipment: If an item is absolutely necessary, we will do our best to get it to your child. However, please understand that we do not want to continually interrupt lessons to deliver forgotten items. Students have lockers for items they don't want to carry, like Food Technology ingredients.
- PE Kits: Forgotten PE kits will not be delivered to classrooms. Students can borrow a freshly laundered kit from the PE department, but we encourage them to take responsibility and remember their own.
- Student Phone Calls: With our phone-free policy please note that students will not be permitted to ask Student Services to call home to bring forgotten equipment. We will only call home for urgent matters, such as medication. This is an important part of teaching students to be responsible and prepared.
- Dinner Money: Please remember to top up your child's dinner money account the night before, not the morning of. The ParentPay and kitchen systems do not sync immediately, so you risk a delay that may prevent your child from getting lunch. Student Services will not ring home for every student asking for money to be put on uploaded. Any money loaned must be returned the next day in cash. Your cooperation helps us maintain a focused and productive learning environment for all students.

AstroTurf: Year 7 students can use the AstroTurf at lunchtime but must bring football boots to change into. Access is available Week 1: Tuesday and Thursday and Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Planners: Please check and sign your child's planner each week. Planners should be signed by both parents/carers and form tutors to help students stay up to date with homework.
Good to Talk: From Thursday 24 October, students will begin giving short presentations during form time about a hobby, interest, or skill. Form tutors will confirm individual presentation slots. Please discuss ideas with your child at home and encourage them to take part in this exciting opportunity to share their interests and get to know their peers better.

• Year 9 Curriculum Evening Thursday 24th September: Year 9 parents are invited into school at 4.30pm, where they can hear more about the options process, which will be undertaken during Year 9. A letter, with more information, has been emailed to Year 9 parents.

• Year 9 Cross-Curricular Visit to Belgium and Northen France: You will be receiving a letter requesting two Google forms be completed. The deadline for these forms has now passed. We urgently require these forms to be completed as we have to pass the information to the travel company.”

• Year 11 GCSE Information Evening: Many thanks to all the parents and students who attended last week’s GCSE information evening. • London Visit July 2027: The Business, Media and Computing Departments are running a KS4 educational visit to London in July 2027. It will involve many educational experiences including Harry Potter Studio Tour, a visit to the Houses of Parliament and the Bank of England Museum. Letters have been handed out to students who have shown an interest in attending the visit. All the dates and approximate costs have been included to give you a full picture of the visit. Reply slips are to be returned to the respective class teachers or can be handed in by 28th September. After this we will issue letters requesting the initial deposit for the visit, which will be in the region of £100.
