CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING BOARD

]The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) provide a full and free careers support service across all occupations and professions within the Construction Industry.

The Design & Technology department are pleased to be able to offer this support to Key Stage 4 students via  ‘Construction Ambassador Events’ held in the Spring Term.

Where appropriate, there will be a strong emphasis to promote up-take onto Apprenticeship programmes and progression pathways, as well as delivering equality and diversity objectives to under-represented groups in the sector.

Construction Craft / Technician Pathways – Examples of Engagement

Year 11+ (up to age 18)
– Attendance at key stage 4+ career events
– Progression & Employability workshop (minimum 6 learners):-
– Career pathway talk
– Tour of www.bconstructive.co.uk website
– Construction craft / technician recruitment and selection process
– Apprenticeship framework qualifications
– Practice selection learning exercise activity
– Employability skills
–  Job search guidance

Year 10 Upwards

– Construction related activities / quiz , including sector information and
– Apprenticeship programmes (this could be part of a school industry day / event)
– Engagement in activities/events that will help to raise the profile to sector under-represented groups
– Other school support that will raise awareness of the sector in particular apprenticeship programmes

Professional and Management Pathways – Examples of Engagement

– Attendance at key stage 4+ career events to promote professional pathways
– Case study presentations to selected students to raise profile of professional routes (minimum 6 learners)
– Host student site visits on current developments (minimum 6, maximum 15 learners per visit)
– Deliver construction related workshops high-lighting professional pathways (this could be part of a school industry day /event)
– Other school / college support that will raise awareness of the sector in particular professional pathways
– Professional development opportunities
