On Friday 23rd January, some of our Year 11 Sports Leaders hosted a Primary Indoor Athletics Event. The build-up to the event involved the leaders planning each race and throwing event, ensuring that they knew what equipment was needed and how the scoring system would work. The event linked with a Warrington School Games Event which is required to be held and sees the winners go through to a finals day against other primary schools from across Warrington. This placed more emphasis on the need for strong leadership and efficient and accurate scoring on the day.
Five local primary schools attended the event, including Croft, Newchurch, Twiss Green, Winwick and Glazebury. The event was focused at Years 5 and 6 and each school brought 18 participants, making for a full Sports Hall but a fantastic atmosphere.
It was a brilliant morning enjoyed by all, and the event saw Croft Primary School progress onto the Warrington finals to be held later in the year. Good Luck to them!
Warrington School Sport partnership supported the event and assisted with the organisation, providing the correct equipment. Thanks to Penny Moorfield and her team for their hard work and support in making the event such a success.
Special congratulations go to the Year 11 Sports Leadership team who worked so hard to make the event a success. We look forward to the next big event to be held later in the year.
In addition to the Primary Athletics Tournament, the Year 10 Female Sports Leaders led a Primary Netball Competition on Wednesday 11th February on the school netball courts. The competition was well-attended by our feeder schools with entrants from Twiss Green, Glazebury, St Lewis’ and Culcheth. The eventual winners on the day were St Lewis’ who progress onto a Warrington-wide finals day to be held later in the year. Massive congratulations to St Lewis’ students and staff on this fantastic win.
