In the week we broke up for the Christmas break, staff and students welcomed around 70 guests to our very own grotto (the school hall!) for an afternoon of festivities to get us all in the Christmas spirit. Miss Longden, Mrs Quicler and Mrs Shaw, along with our skilled helpers from the Student Leadership Group and Youth Health Champions, spent a very busy few hours preparing for the arrival of our invited guests.
From decorating trees, making origami napkins and dressing the tables with crackers and all things sparkly, we were ready at 11.30am to welcome some very excited senior members of our community. Garlands dressed the doors and the walls were adorned with tinsel and glitter to add more of a festive touch when the mince pies were dished out on arrival. The ladies and gents were welcomed to the beautiful sound of the CHS Musical Theatre Group who performed for the duration of the meal and treated us to songs like ‘Oh Holy Night’, ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ and ‘Jingle Bells’, all of which were very well received – particularly because the group performed in an array of Christmas jumpers!
Catering Academy excelled themselves with a wonderful Christmas dinner and everyone was full up following the Christmas pud and custard! Our very own Bingo Bongo, Mr Dugdale, did a wonderful job at leading the bingo game and was happy to dish out the chocolate prizes to our winners.
This year’s party saw the largest number of guests ever and absolutely everyone who was involved had a brilliant afternoon but most importantly, our guests had a wonderful time and went away from school feeling fuller and happier. A huge thank you to all involved.
