The Culcheth-2-Soweto team is busy working to smash its fundraising targets with several events in the diary, and the first weekend in July was no exception.
The team, along with Miss Longden, Mrs L akin, Mr Cushing and a giant bear, pitched up on Croft park to run our 7th stall at the annual event. Lady Luck was with us this year because, as we were unpacking and setting up, the sun came out and shone all day – much better than last year when we got rained upon!
Along with the sunshine came hordes of people wanting to play our alcohol tombola to win some beautifully filled and decorated hampers or bottles of wine, as well as the children’s games of ‘Sweet Pong’ and ‘Splat the Rat’. The atmosphere was fantastic and the stall was busy from start to finish which meant that we raised an epic £600 in total! A huge ‘well done’ and ‘thank you’ to our wonderful apprentices who have worked tirelessly to fundraise this year.
This is just one of three fundraising events happening in July. Alongside the Carnival we had a bag pack in Chapelford Sainsbury’s on 9th July and on Friday 14th July we held our Summer Festival at Culcheth Sports Club (formerly The Daten). Our headline act was the UK’s no1 Coldplay tribute act, Viva La Coldplay; see September’s edition for more information about the success of this event.
