On Monday 26th July, Year 8 attended a residential at Kingswood in Colomendy. A-side arrived at Colomendy to bright sun and perfect weather conditions for a walk around Loggerheads Nature park where we sat and had lunch overlooking some fantastic views of Wales.

Unfortunately for the B-side, they did not have the same conditions; they had to complete the walk in wet weather conditions on the Wednesday. Students were taken out of their comfort zone, being challenged with a variety of new activities including climbing, Jacob’s ladder, zip-wiring, problem-solving and frisbee golf.

Throughout the course of the week, the students had to contend with further terrible weather conditions and, to their credit, each one of the students embraced the conditions and got completely involved in all of the activities. Being there for the full week, we were able to see the determination and teamwork displayed by all those who attended. It was rewarding to see students of different friendship groups, working together to achieve a common goal in all of the different activities. This is
something that every one of the students who attended should be proud of.

We hope students came back with some new skills, including making their own beds! An excellent and thoroughly enjoyable week
