Year 7 students descended on Walesby Forest in Nottinghamshire to take part in three days’ camping and outdoor activities. The weather was not kind during the middle of the week, but students were steadfast in their resolve and didn’t let it affect them. The start and end of the week saw some lovely weather and even some glorious sunshine, resulting in one or two rosy faces, and even a burnt nose – Miss Butler!

Students took part in a range of activities including canoeing, raft-building, archery, rifle-shooting, crate-stacking, and numerous team building exercises. For many students, it was the first time that they had done any of these activities. Students were all really enthusiastic about the activities and we received lots of compliments on their positive attitudes from the instructors. We may have even uncovered some future Olympic champions at the rifle-range, such was the quality of some of the students.

Our thanks go to Miss Butler, Dr Bainbridge, Mr Uttley, Miss Shawcross, Miss Hesford, Mr Maunder, Miss Smith and Mr Caldwell for making the week such a successful and memorable experience.
