At the end of the summer term, to mark the end of their study of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ in English, Year 7 designed and created their own masks. As they had studied the famous scene at Capulet’s masquerade ball, where the two lovers meet for the first time, students were enthusiastic about their own creations. We had a wonderful array of masks on our parade, including an LED light up version, a storm trooper inspired mask and other bold and beautiful designs.
All classes took to the ‘catwalk’ (or ‘The Street’ as it is commonly known in school!), to wow their audience whilst wearing their masks. We had some true ‘Next Top Model’ worthy catwalk struts and some more muted performances but all classes joined in the celebration. Many thanks to all staff, students and parents who were involved to make this a lovely occasion for the students.
As usual, edible prizes were up for grabs and Mr Groves had the challenging task of choosing two overall winners of the competition. Ruby Lamb was the overall winner for the A side of the year and Mia Weaver for the B side. A huge well done to the winners and congratulations to all involved.
