Winstanley College recently invited a selected group of our Year 10 students to a Higher Education event. Our students listened to presentations about the importance of university study, and how to choose the correct university for them. The day not only consisted of presentations from college senior lecturers but also a University Fair. The University Fair had over 60 universities from across the country and some worldwide. Our students were able seek advice and guidance on how to ensure they are going on the correct route for the career they are aspiring for. Here is what the students had to say about the event:

Caitlin Armstrong: “Going to Winstanley allowed me to see lots of different universities and has given me an insight into what I could do when I’m older. I spoke to a representative from an international university; this let me see where I could go and study. I was also told what I could do to improve an application to a university; this was really useful for the future.”

Matthew Lorton: “It has given me a better idea of which university I’d like to go to and what I’d like to study.”

Charlotte Cooper: “The visit to Winstanley College offered an insight into the different universities and the courses they have to offer. I feel this is an important trip for high achieving students, especially Year 10 students, as I feel it is important to understand the course you would like to do at university in order to select the correct courses.”
