As part of the ‘Future in Mind’ initiative and the on-going commitment to improving the emotional health and well-being of all young people in Warrington, Culcheth High School has worked in collaboration with Warrington Borough Council on a number of projects over the last year, including investing in staff training (Continuing Professional Development delivered by the Public Health Team), collaborating with external agencies (such as CAMHS, KOOTH, Footsteps for Families), providing support services (School Health Team drop-ins), revising policies (Substance Misuse and SRE) and working towards achieving awards (e.g Smoke Free Schools).
The support offered and provided by Warrington Youth Service has been an integral part of enabling us to work towards raising
awareness of important issues such as positive mental health, self-harm and body image, risky behaviours, transition, sexual health, to name but a few. Students have participated in a number of sessions delivered by Youth Service workers across Key Stages 3 and 4 via Personal Development lessons, and engaged with the mobile unit during lunchtimes over a number of weeks. The wealth of experience and knowledge provided by the team is second to none and the input has been extremely well-received by our students. Our thanks go to all involved in delivering such a relevant and professional service.
