Culcheth-2-Soweto is one of the school’s most loved and treasured projects and it was with great pride that the four members of staff on the C-2-S team: Mrs Lakin, Miss Longden, Mr Cushing and Mrs Smith, went to the Village Hotel on Thursday 29th June to receive the Schools’ Innovation Award to recognise all the hard work that goes in to Culcheth-2-Soweto.

This could not have come at a better time as we excitedly greeted our visitors from Soweto on Tuesday 12th July. The C-2-S staff work hard on the project but we are extremely dedicated because we are so passionate about what students in both Culcheth and Matseliso get from the partnership. This project is about so much more than travelling to each other’s countries and experiencing other cultures; we are teaching our young people about independence, resilience, confidence, ambition and opening their minds to becoming true global citizens and ambassadors for our school.

Mrs Lakin spoke eloquently to the audience on behalf of the staff team, which was made up of people from all areas of education, and shared a small insight in to what we do, why we do it, and our love for the project. I can speak for us all when I say that we were bursting with pride and truly overwhelmed that the project has been recognised – long may it continue!
