On Wednesday 1st February, fifteen lucky GCSE PE students were given the opportunity to meet the Manchester City women’s football team at the fantastic Belle Vue sports village in Manchester. Students spent the morning observing and interviewing a variety of women with key roles in sport.
They met coaches leading the sessions, physiotherapists conducting rehabilitation, sports scientists tracking and analysing data, nutritionists providing valuable feedback, and perhaps most influential, the professional athletes completing their training. Manchester City and England captain Steph Houghton commented on how confident and articulate our students were and even invited us to an upcoming game as her guests.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day and have returned to school inspired to achieve their full potential as future stars in sport.
