Tackling the Primrose and Blues is a sport, physical activity and education-based community programme, targeting young people aged 6-16 to help improve their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The programme is run by Edge Hill University in partnership with Everton in the Community and Warrington Wolves and offers a wide range of interactive and engaging sports and personal development activities for young people across on a weekly basis.

Sessions include:
– Tailored educational support
– Peer-led workshop
– Competitive and non-competitive activities
– Leadership and mentoring opportunities
– Positive lifestyle change

The classroom support covers topics associated with developing and maintaining positive mental wellbeing. The physical activity sessions allow students to practice what they learn, as well as increasing physical activity levels. Taking this twin approach of combining physical activity and mental health support is proven to illicit positive behaviour change, increase self-esteem, confidence and ultimately improve physical and mental wellbeing.

We are encouraging any Key Stage 3 students to take part in this exciting initiative, which is supported by some of our Year 10 GCSE PE student mentors and representatives from Warrington Wolves and Everton FC.
