Three budding authors in Year 7 recently beat 115,000 other writers to get through to the second round of the BBC’s 500 words short story competition. Mahalia Byrne, Harry Jackson, Lydia Symes and Milly Marsden entered the competition in February, along with 118,000 other entrants. Before Easter they found out that they had got down to the final 3500 – an absolutely fantastic achievement! Whilst they have not been fortunate enough to get into the final 50, they have each done so well to get as far as they did and we look forward to reading more from them in the future.
