Culcheth High School is pleased to announce the launch of the STEM Careers Fair aimed at opening the eyes of our students to the rich and vast range of careers available within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) industries.
The event will run on the 29th January 2015, open to all students from 9am to 3pm, and 6:30pm – 8:00pm for parents during options evening as an optional extra.
- The timing of this event is key as it will be at a time just before many companies open their apprenticeship applications, making it particularly relevant to our Year 11 pupils.
- For our Year 10 pupils, it will provide them with the opportunity to consider work experience over the summer holidays and consider their progress so far in preparation for Year 11.
- For our Year 9 pupils, this event is also timed to coincide with ‘Options Evening’ providing the opportunity to influence pupil choices (and if companies choose to stay into the evening – the opportunity to influence their parents as well).
- For our Year 7 and 8 pupils it provides the chance to capture their interest in these careers for the future.
Culcheth High School has over 1100 pupils on roll and is situated on the edge of Birchwood Science Park where there are a range of STEM industries taking place on our pupils’ doorstep.
The majority of our students are unaware of the vast and rich careers that are offered within the STEM sector and the aim of this fair is to open their eyes and enthuse them into these STEM industries.
