Each November, Culcheth High School hosts its annual ‘Moon Watch and Star Gazing’ event which is free and open to all students, their parents, siblings, friends and the wider community.

The event takes place after school from 5:30-8:30pm, with attendees being able to make observations of the moon using Culcheth High School’s telescopes and receiving professional help and guidance from members of the Liverpool Astronomical Society and some of their telescopes.

In addition to this there are a number of lunar-themed competitions, media and art activities (such as poetry writing, perception drawing, observational modelling and lunar quizzes, to name but a few), as well as a very interesting talk on sidewalk astronomy and a fabulous ‘planetarium’ experience.

The event is very well-received, with a wide range of age-groups in attendance and we fully intend to run the event for many years to come!
