It is always difficult to say goodbye to staff but especially when they have been associated with Culcheth High School for 33 years. Jan Porteous is retiring this summer after first joining the school in 1982. She has been an inspirational individual, teacher and leader at Culcheth High School over the years. Her love of languages and learning have been at the centre of her approach in nurturing and supporting students and staff over the years. Mrs Porteous always puts the interests of others first in everything she does which is epitomised by her organising, every year, the Samaritan’s Purse shoe box appeal resulting in hundreds if not thousands of shoeboxes full of essential items and gifts going to children all over the world from students and staff at Culcheth High School. We wish her all the very best in her future and she will be missed by all at Culcheth High School.

Another member of staff who is retiring in the summer is Dilys Bowes who will be missed by all in the school after years of service as a teacher and teaching assistant in the Arts & Technology Faculty. We wish Dilys all the very best.

A number of staff have secured promotions in other schools; we would like to thank them for all their work over the years at Culcheth High School and wish Katy Buxton (Maths), Matthew Jones (Maths), Simon Witcher (Media Studies), Claire Hayes (Inclusion) and Lisa Scott (Business Studies) all the very best in their new roles and schools.

Other staff are leaving Culcheth High School to pursue other challenges closer to home or in some cases very far away! We would like to thank Matt Davies (History), Adrian Ford (MFL), Davis Inglis (Science SAC Year 7), Kirsty Houghton (Social Sciences) and Rachel Parkinson for everything they have done for Culcheth High School and wish them all the very best in their new challenges.
