The February half-term holiday saw us make our first venture to Italy since our 2011 trip to Courmayeur, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Twenty-three students were joined by Mr Welsford, Mrs Brearley and Mr Cushing for a week of fabulous snow, fabulous skiing and fabulous food – what more could we ask for?!?!

We arrived in resort on Saturday evening to be greeted with fresh snow fall, always a bonus at the beginning of a ski week. Sunday morning brought more snowfall, leaving the pistes in tip-top condition, ready for our first few runs of the week. Mile after mile of wide, tree-lined pistes provided some great skiing for all abilities, and before we knew it, day one was gone in a flash. Monday through to Friday saw not a cloud in the sky, and some of the best skiing conditions we’ve ever experienced. Warm sunny skies and soft yet responsive snow; we really did hit the jackpot in terms of the conditions!

Under the watchful eyes of our ski instructors, Bruno, Moreno, Paulo B and Paulo R, our skills progressed on a daily basis, and by the end of the week, the difference in some students’ skiing had to be seen to be believed!

And it wasn’t just our skiing that saw some giant steps forward! After a particularly nervous and shaky start to the week, with a grand total of zero songs sung at karaoke, most of the students managed to gather up the courage to speak to students from other schools, with some even managing to take to the dance floor to drop some moves on the disco night!!

Those of you who now wish you had joined us, look out for details about next year’s trip,
