In the last week of the Autumn term, Culcheth High School hosted its annual Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party. Miss Longden, Miss Shaw, the Student Leadership Group and our Youth Health Champions welcomed 65 visitors from around the local area to the hall, greeted by our friendly student faces with a glass of sherry, mince pies, homemade cakes and the delightful sounds of the brass band.
Feeling suitably festive, surrounded by beautifully dressed Christmas trees and tables adorned with yuletide décor, the guests were entertained by the superb Musical Theatre Group. Throughout the afternoon, they showcased an array of songs and dances from musicals, and performed excellent versions of Christmas songs.
The main event was, of course, the fabulous Christmas dinner which was beautifully prepared by the Catering Academy team on the day; the extra roasties and Christmas pudding were lapped up by all! Dinner was followed by a game of Bingo, led by our very own Bingo caller, Mr Dugdale. If he ever gives up teaching, he could take up a new career as a Bingo caller! So many people were involved in the event on the day, making it a huge success and, most importantly, so enjoyable for the people in our community.
A huge thank you goes to all staff involved: all those who helped with transporting our guests, Mr Simms, Mr Parker and the Site Team, Mr Morris, and Governors, Mrs Titchard and Mrs Young.
