Last half term saw the end of season Warrington Wolves 9-a-side tournaments, in which we have had a good degree of recent success.
Despite some strong performances, this year saw our Year 7 and Year 10 sides knocked out in the group stages of the competition, but with only the top team in each group qualifying for the final, there really is no shame in this. The Year 8 boys, however, faired a lot better, winning their qualifying group for the second year running and beating defending champions Cardinal Newman on their way to the final.
A pulsating match, held at the new Victoria Park rugby complex, saw the boys go into half time at three tries apiece against Lymm High School. The second half continued to be a high octane, end-to-end affair, with some great rugby on show from both sides. However, despite an excellent performance the boys again came up just short, losing by 6 tries to 5, amidst
some very controversial refereeing decisions!
