Saturday 7th October saw the Year 10 and 11 netball teams participate in the Cheshire Schools Netball Competition at Whitby High School in Ellesmere Port. The event sees the best schools from across Cheshire enter, with previous winners going on to compete at a National level. Staff and students were aware this was not going to be an easy day, despite knowing how strong we are in both age categories.

Year 10 had a tough start, losing their first game 3-9 against Upton High School but the girls soon picked themselves up and fought on in each of their remaining fixtures to finish in 8th place overall – not bad being able to count themselves as the 8th best team across Cheshire for their age group. The girls more than held their own against really tough opposition, keeping to within two goals with the eventual finalists and overall winners Christleton, the difference of just one centre pass going against them.

Year 11 also came up against a tough first opponent but managed to come through with a victory in their first game beating Lymm High School 5-3. More victories followed and an extremely close draw with Fallibroome High School. At the end of the first round, they saw themselves positioned in second place progressing through to the semi-finals. This saw them come up against the winners of the second group for their game; they won this 9-4 – an excellent feat – and progressed onto the final. In the final game of the day, the Year 11 team faced off against Fallibroome High School one more time, for what was inevitably going to be one tough game given they were the only two unbeaten teams on the day so far. A phenomenal performance from the whole team saw them win the final game 11-3 and come out victorious as winners of the overall tournament for their age group. Well done and congratulations to Year 11 (pictured with their medals).
