During Activities Week, Year 8 students took part in a session that explored slavery in today’s world. Students were able to build on their previous knowledge of Transatlantic Slavery and investigated why slavery still takes place in societies around the world today.
Case studies helped students to understand what life was like for people who had been trafficked or were living in some form of slavery.
Furthermore, students identified which parts of the Human Rights Act were being contravened in these cases. This was an eye-opening session for Year 8 students who worked very hard and showed an excellent level of maturity when exploring these difficult topics.
