It is always a pleasure to see our students in their ventures outside of school, and this one was no exception. Joe recently performed with his musical theatre group CODYS for a 5-show run of ‘Musicality’, a showcase to celebrate their 20-year anniversary.
Although Joe has been singing for quite a few years with CODYS, he has only just come to join the Musical Theatre Group at CHS, most recently wowing the audience and earning a standing ovation at Celebration Evening. It was with this same song, ‘Bring him Home’ from Les Miserables, that he stunned the 400-strong crowd at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn, including a very proud Miss Longden.
As well as singing in ensemble pieces from musicals such as Billy Elliot and Miss Saigon, his real moment to shine was when he walked on stage to open the final number from Les Miserables. His vocal performance was absolutely flawless and he seemed so confident on stage, later performing the latter part of the song with three other ex-members who, for some, had considerably more stage experience. He really held his own and was recently credited in a review by the Warrington Guardian as ‘one to watch’. A fantastic show and a wonderful achievement – well done Joe! We look forward to seeing him perform in our next
school production in December.
