Recently we were lucky enough to be invited by Edge Hill University to take part in a Holocaust Study Day which involved the students listening to a Holocaust survivor telling his story.

Mayer Hersh, MBE, talked about his experiences during World War 2 and recounted what it was like to be a teenage Jewish man wanting to fight for his survival during such a horrendous time.

From his own testimony and the questions that he answered, the students who attended the day were all able to develop a clear understanding about what it was like and how happy he felt once he was rescued from the concentration camp and flown to England in 1945.

All of the students commented at the end of the day, that they felt lucky to have experienced such an opportunity and would never forget what they had heard from such a brave 88 year old man.
