Most teams have made a promising start to the season, indicating that several of them are in good shape to mount challenges for their respective league titles. Year 7, with Mr Welsford as manager, have won one and lost one so far, suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bridgewater in their first game, but bouncing back to beat Bridgewater 6-3 in their second game.

The Year 8s, under the guidance of new manager Mr Cushing, have also won one and lost one, suffering a 7-3 loss to Bridgewater in their first match, but also then recovering well to defeat Birchwood by a handsome score line of 8-2.

Mr Owens’ Year 9 team have had an even stronger start to the season, with two victories and a draw from their opening three games.  A 5-0 win over St Greg’s in their first match was followed up with a gritty 2-2 draw with Bridgewater, before the boys recorded another healthy 5-0 victory over Birchwood last week.

Year 10, also under a new manager Miss Shawcross, began with an impressive 5-0 win over Bridgewater, but then slipped to a 6-4 loss to Birchwood in this week’s game. Sandwiched between these two results was an impressive 2-1 victory in the first round of the Cheshire Cup, against a strong team from Hazel Grove High School in Stockport.

The Year 11 team, continuing under the stewardship of Mr Freaney, have endured a torrid start to the season, which has seen them embark on a three game losing streak. The boys have been going through one of those runs where anything that can go wrong has gone wrong, so hopefully their fortunes will turn around soon.
