Since May of this year, the Culcheth-2-Soweto team has been appealing to the school community for donations of Culcheth school uniform with a logo, sports kits and dressing-up outfits for young children. This was to take over to Soweto on our visit, where we donate essential items of uniform to the students in our partner school. On a Friday, the students at Matseliso High School wear items of Culcheth uniform and if you are lucky enough to have an item of clothing, it really is seen as a privilege, and they wear it with such pride!
We have been overwhelmed with donations from students, ex-students, staff, the local community and friends and family of the CHS students. Our donations of sports kit and dressing up clothes will be taken to Kliptown, a very poor area of Johannesburg where the children of the community have very little in terms of basic provisions, so little luxuries are not something they are used to.
This is our third visit to Kliptown as a school group and every item donated will be greatly appreciated and bring a lot of joy to the children’s lives. A huge thank you to everyone who has kindly donated items; the mammoth piles of clothing is incredible and all down to the kindness of our school and community
