On Sunday 29th March, the Culcheth-2-Soweto team descended on The Raj Indian restaurant in the village to begin preparations for one of the biggest fundraising events in the C-2-S calendar this year. Miss Longden, Mrs Lakin and school governor, Mrs Titchard led the team in setting up the restaurant to really wow the crowds as they came in.

At 1pm, the 160 guests began to arrive and were given a warm welcome by our team and were able to begin to enjoy the festivities and their complimentary drink on arrival. They were also greeted to the sounds of a local acoustic duo, Paul Tonge and Andy Fenton, who played a fantastic opening set as our team, guests and the Raj staff began to bring the restaurant to life.

As part of the fundraising efforts, the 160 guests were able to enjoy a full Indian banquet with a variety of speciality dishes to sample, raffles, cake sale and not forgetting the exceptionally talented students of Culcheth High School’s Musical Theatre Group entertaining with songs from West End shows. Miss Longden even managed to persuade her brother to form part of the entertainment!

After a wonderful afternoon and yet another stellar effort from our C-2-S team, this was another successful event raising in excess of £1400. The event was a huge success but the team, everyone who attended, and in particular Anhar and his staff at The Raj, deserve huge recognition for their involvement in the day.
