On Sunday 2nd April the Culcheth-2-Soweto team hosted its third annual family fundraiser at The Raj Indian restaurant in Culcheth village. The afternoon was a huge success starting with a refreshing welcome drink as our guests arrived from 1pm. Over 100 people joined us on the day and were seated in the restaurant which was beautifully decorated with bunting, balloons and little reminders of Soweto and our partner school. The food was a particular highlight of the day but even more so, the packed out restaurant was entertained by two of our most talented singers, Kitty Wilson and Amelia Williams, who blew everyone away with their stunning vocals. Certainly better than anything the X Factor has produced!
Mr Cushing’s genius ‘chuck-a-duck’ game, which involved mini rubber ducks and a parachute, had everyone laughing and enjoying the sunshine outside the Raj. Keep your eyes peeled for the rubber ducks around school soon as we will be making sure that everyone at CHS can get involved. Over 30 Easter eggs were won as part of some of the fantastic hampers and raffle prizes on offer and a giant bunny to whoever guessed the correct name.
Overall it was a wonderful day full of laughter, music and a fantastic atmosphere; perfect for celebrating the success of this great team of students and their families, and the ever-growing Culcheth-2-Soweto partnership. We raised in the region of £1300 overall which is amazing, but just a small drop in the ocean compared to the total needed. The staff could not have been more proud and our team of students were a credit to themselves and the school.
