On Saturday 2nd July, the Culcheth-2-Soweto team waded on to a muddy field ready for our annual fundraiser at Croft Carnival. Having always experienced glorious sunshine at the event, we were taken aback by the festival-type weather and attempted to set up our stall amongst the down pours.
Despite the rather grim conditions and slightly delayed set-up due to the weather, the team rallied round and produced a fantastic looking stall which gathered quite a crowd throughout the day. As the rain came down, we didn’t let that stop us and we even played along with members of the public holding up the tarpaulin as well as dipping their hands in the tombola! Our stall looked wonderful with our gazebo dressed with bespoke bunting and a star prize of a Pimms hamper – it definitely was our star attraction and one lucky winner managed to scoop the top prize towards the end of the day.
Overall we had a great day and although it felt like a Duke of Edinburgh camping expedition at times due to the rain, we had
great fun and it was a fantastic team-building exercise, raising around £460
