Friday 13th March 2015 was Comic Relief Day. To support this worthy cause, we decided to have a ‘non-uniform’ day for all year groups. Students chose to get involved by making a donation of £2 to the appeal. There were a number of other events including a raffle, sponsored phone amnesty, sponsored silence and the sixth form students organised a chocolate tombola which raised £325. A staff netball match was arranged to entertain students at lunchtime with the male staff taking on the female staff. An emphatic victory for the male staff, 5-0, left many of the female team having a bad start to their weekend!
Over 93% of the students made a donation and the current running total is just over £2240 with donations from other sponsored events to follow.
We would like to thank all students, staff and families who donated to the worthy causes. The Student Leadership Group aim to split the proceeds, 50% to Comic Relief and 50% to the school charities. The charities chosen are Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK, Culcheth-2-Soweto and St Rocco’s Hospice.
