This half term, we have continued to meet with our Year 11 students to help them map out their future steps after Culcheth High School, creating clear plans with them.
Students have been attending College Open Days with some colleges coming in to offer our students specific support during lunch time drop-in sessions. Friday 6th November saw our first event linking with an external agency when Interserve visited Year 11 assembly to discuss apprenticeships opportunities with them; this will be followed up by an apprenticeship workshop with a cohort of Year 11 later this half term.
Thursday 26th November, as well as being our ‘B Side’ Year 11 parents evening, will also see us host our annual Next Steps Fair for Year 11, to further aid them with their decision-making for their future. A mixture of colleges, universities and employers will be in attendance at school from 2-4pm. Students will attend during period 5 with parents welcome from 3pm onwards.
This will provide students and parents alike, the opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges and universities away from open events and ask any specific questions about courses, as well as meeting with representatives from local businesses about employment and apprenticeships opportunities available from September 2016. This should be a fantastic event and will help guide our current Year 11 towards a successful future after Culcheth High School.
