The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair is the largest celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for young people in the UK. Held at the NEC, Birmingham 16-19 March 2016, The Big Bang Fair is an award-winning
combination of exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits, as well as careers information from STEM professionals.

The aim is to show young people (primarily aged 7-19) the exciting and rewarding opportunities out there for them with the right experience and qualifications, by bringing classroom learning to life.

Thanks to the efforts of the Year 9 STEM Club students who won the Sellafield Big Bang Competition earlier in the year (and of course to Sellafield Ltd whose generous contribution made the visit possible), 45 Year 9 students, interested in a career in Engineering, were able attend the Big Bang Fair on Thursday 17th March 2016. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all its visitors, not only by CHS students, but also by the Prime Minister! “The Big Bang Fair encourages young people to understand what Science, Maths and Technology can mean in life as well as in the classroom.” David Cameron, Prime Minister.

Many thanks to Sellafield Ltd for affording our students such a fantastic opportunity!
