Last half-term finished with a Chinese flavour as year 6 students from Culcheth Primary were welcomed by Ms Cookson for a morning of Chinese themed art work.

The year 6 students had been studying different aspects the country’s culture as part of their link to a school in China and they arrived in the art department to be greeted by traditional Chinese music and various traditional artefacts to heighten their creativity.

Ms Cookson modelled the dragon themed drawing they would be developing and demonstrated the required artistic techniques before sending the students to view the magnificent Chinese dragon that adorns the wall of the school’s restaurant area to provide further inspiration.

The year 6 students worked extremely hard to first drawing out their dragon designs and then accurately painted them using colours and techniques that had been discussed earlier. Ms Cookson thought that the students were very talented and demonstrated a real commitment and enthusiasm to their work.

We enjoyed the opportunity to work with students from Culcheth Primary, giving them the chance to use our wonderful facilities, whilst further developing the existing links between the two schools.
