Our 2016 Open Evening was an incredible event with activities taking place all across the school for our visitors to see and take part in. Every department showcased the exciting learning that takes place at Culcheth High School. Visitors were invited to join in with sports, instruments, dances, maths activities, spelling challenges, cooking, robot programming, jigsaws, language quizzes and laser cutting.
Tours of the school took in the Art Department’s ‘World of Pure Imagination’, Food Technology’s ‘Wonderland’, and a Drama
Department bringing the world of musical theatre right here to Culcheth.
Students were on hand to explain their roles in projects like ‘Future in Mind’ and ‘Duke of Edinburgh’, with bacon butties and tea served for good measure by the DoE students as visitors were invited to try to solve the ‘Murder in the Library’.
Science was a typically explosive experience, with visitors’ senses beset by live demonstrations of amazing experiments involving water, fire and electricity! Just along from this, Technology’s machines whirred and whizzed as students demonstrated an array of techniques, whilst PE highlighted the aerial acrobatics skills of our students’ trampolining.
In Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Business Studies, Maths, English and Media the subjects were brought to life with a range of activities to challenge and excite those who took part. Computer programmed trucks drove out the Computing room and the Music Department was filled with flashing lights and a cacophony of sounds.
