Adele recently took part in the 2015 School Games in Manchester. A very talented swimmer, Adele has paralysis of her left arm due to a birth injury and swims with just her right arm. She is ranked the top S8 youth swimmer in various events and this is how she was selected to swim in this competition. She swam multi-class which saw her swim against girls who have a variety of impairments such as visual loss, learning impairment & dwarfism.
It was a successful meet for Adele as she took the Bronze Medal for 100m Backstroke in a very close fought race. She then went one better and won the Silver Medal in the 100m Butterfly and also placed 4th 100m breaststroke. Adele’s team, England North, also won the entire event comprehensively beating the other regions.
Adele has her sights on the Rio 2016 Paralympics. She is on the GB development team and has been identified as a potential Gold medal winner at the Tokyo 2020 games but Adele would really like to qualify for Rio for the experience. There is only one opportunity to qualify which will be at the Para-International in Glasgow in April. We will keep you updated as to how she gets on but in the meantime well done Adele!
