As I approach my retirement from teaching, I wanted to take an opportunity to thank everyone for all the glorious years I have spent in this wonderful profession. Over time, I have seen many changes in education but one thing has always remained constant: the dedication and commitment of fellow teachers and support staff who so often go the extra mile for the young people in their care. So many dear colleagues, so many inspirational people, life-long friends made, supportive and encouraging parents, and of course thousands of students with whom it has been a joy and a privilege to work.
I first came to Culcheth High School as a new teacher in 1982 and stayed until 1988 when I left to have my first baby. Three children later, back in 1997, I was asked if I would like to return here for a term and I haven’t left since! Culcheth High School has been very good to me; not only has it allowed me to pursue a career which I love, the school even found me a husband! John and I met here on interview in the spring of 1982. It really doesn’t feel like 33 years ago, but then this job does keep you busy! In more recent years, the opportunity to lead a department has been a very fulfilling experience for me, made all the more so by the wonderful MFL team.
For all the proud achievements, for all the fun, for all the kindness shown to me, thank you. As I put the lid on my board marker and switch off my classroom light for the last time, I would like to send every best wish for the future to everyone in the Culcheth High School community. May the years ahead bring much happiness and success for you all.
